What I'm available for

Assignments I take on — in detail

One certified pair of hands across electrical, instrumentation, HVAC and ATEX work — inspection, supervision and representation. Pick a single task or combine several; scope and fee are agreed up front.

🔍

E&I Inspection

Electrical & instrumentation checks

On-site inspection of electrical and instrumentation systems — from drawings or on an existing installation. Compliance check, punch list and handover preparation. Useful wherever you have no dedicated technical representation on site.

🏭

FAT / SAT

Factory & site acceptance tests

Running Factory and Site Acceptance Tests, or representing you at them — switchboards, MCCs, control systems and HVAC, witnessed and documented on your behalf. If you can't attend in person, I protect your interests.

📋

ATEX Inspection

To IEC 60079-17

Periodic inspection of Ex equipment at visual, close and detailed grades. Photo-documented report, prioritised defect list and repair recommendations. More on the Ex inspection page.

Project Management

Technical project lead

Technical project management for small and mid-size electrical and HVAC works — design review, subcontractor coordination, milestone tracking and reporting, with real on-site control rather than remote box-ticking.

Site Supervision

On-site technical oversight

On-site supervision of the works on your behalf — I check that they follow the drawings, specifications and safety rules. Valuable when you have no technical presence at the site day to day.

General industry
🤝

Site Representative

Client representation on site

Representing your interests towards subcontractors, authorities and design offices — decision preparation, early flagging of problems and daily reporting. Especially useful for remote or overseas clients.

Fault Finding

Troubleshooting

Systematic fault finding on electrical and HVAC systems — especially recurring, hard-to-pin-down faults. Not guesswork: structured investigation, measurements and documented analysis, even in complex systems.

HVAC Supervision

Industrial ventilation & cooling

Design review, installation supervision and handover of industrial HVAC. ATEX-critical: ventilation of a hazardous area directly affects its zone classification and Ex safety, so it is treated as part of the picture.

Construction Delivery

Technical coordination

Partner contractors carry out the physical work; I hold the technical coordination, ATEX and quality compliance, and the handover documentation. Technical responsibility in one hand — one point of contact for you.

Field-proven

Certified competence, kept current

Recent high-voltage refresher training — safe isolation, absence-of-voltage testing and applying portable earthing on switchgear, in full arc-flash PPE. The certificates stay current so the work on your site is backed by up-to-date, hands-on practice.

When to hire

When it helps to bring in a specialist

  • A turnaround or shutdown needs extra certified Ex inspection capacity.
  • A project needs independent hazardous area verification of equipment or installations.
  • Your team is strong but lacks dedicated Ex depth for a specific task.
  • You need a second, independent opinion before an audit or handover.
Engagement

How the engagement works

Interim

Cover a gap or a peak with certified Ex inspection for a defined period.

Ad-hoc

A single inspection, review or expert opinion — scoped and delivered without a long commitment.

Project / turnaround

Planned support across a project or shutdown, with prioritised findings you can schedule.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you work offshore?

Yes — offshore and onshore oil & gas is the core of 20+ years of field experience, alongside general industry.

Can you cover a short turnaround?

Yes. Interim and project-based engagements are designed exactly for turnarounds and shutdowns, with prioritised findings.

Do you carry out the repairs too?

Yes, within the rules — repairs to IEC 60079-19 with manufacturer-approved methods and parts, and I support the whole process. A like-for-like replacement of a certified component (for example a water-damaged Ex junction box) I can do directly, restoring the system’s integrity; jobs that need the OEM or an authorised repair facility I flag and help coordinate.
